Focusing specifically on the Tsunami that hit South-East Asia in 2004, this report explores the impacts of the disaster on women with data collected in three affected countries. Evidence shows that the tsunami had a greater impact on women’s mortality than on men in each of the three locations. Other issues with the lack of gender-disaggregated data or labelling women as vulnerable victims, which affect the decision-making in each place are flagged in the report.
