This article intended to an academic audience brings a decolonial perspective to the study of resilience highlighting that the prevalence of the term in international and national policy cirles is the result of a Western ontology applied to suppposed 'vulnerable' African populations. Making use of indigenous knowlegde, the author shows a plurality of world views which go beyond the concept of resilience.
